WATERVILLE – Amanda Pomerleau tossed a five-inning one-hitter in the first game and Husson College pounded out 44 hits in two games to sweep a college softball doubleheader over host Thomas College 25-0 and 19-3.
In the first game, Pomerleau struck out nine and walked one, while Denise Schrier led the offense with two singles, two doubles, and a triple for four RBIs. Lori Yanush stroked two singles and two home runs for the Braves from Bangor, while Pomerleau helped her own cause with two singles, a triple, and a homer, driving in four runs.
In the second game, Sandy Jack had two singles and a double, while Marianne Lampart and Chris Longtin had three singles each.
Karen White paced Thomas with a single and a triple.
UMF 16-25, UMPI 0-1
Becky Vaughn threw a no-hitter to help the Beavers defeat UMaine-Presque Isle in the first game. The game was called because of the 12-run rule in the bottom of the fifth. Bethanne Boccelli had three hits with two RBIs to lead UMaine-Farmington. Jen Cox and Krista Meyer each had two hits for UMF.
In the second game, Bethane Boccelli and Vicky Lemieux each had three hits 4 with four runs batted in apiece to lead the Beavers. Angel Saucier drove in the only run for UMPI. The game was called in the bottom of the fifth because of the 12-run rule.
