FinishLynx is a computer-based electronic timing device designed for use in racing events. The Lynx custom-made high speed camera is capable of capturing as many as 1,600 frames per second, and times can be read down to 1000ths of one second.
FinishLynx can be run on a variety of computers, and can “talk” to stadium scoreboards, pulling the names from the Clerk of the Course database, linking them with the proper times, and displaying official results on stadium scoreboards soon after a race is completed.
While most pre-Lynx systems relied on actual photographic paper to produce a photofinish result, Lynx’s camera converts an image into digital code, and turns that into a picture on the computer’s screen.
