HERMON — A Meet the Candidates Night will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, in the lower level of the IOOF Hall in front of Hermon High School on Billings Road. The sponsors are the Kiwanis Club and the Hermon Business Association.
The candidates for the Republican primary for District 124 are Harry F. Rideout, Paul K. Vestal Jr. and Robert E. Yackobitz. The candidate for the Democratic primary is Sharon H. Creighton.
Candidates for two three-year terms on the Hermon Town Council are Louis F. LaChance, Michael E. Phinney and Robert E. Yackobitz.
Running for the two three-year terms on the School Committee are Leon G. Cliff and Donna O. Pulver.
According to Kathryn Ruth, co-chairman of the Kiwanis Community Services Committee, the evening will include a brief presentation by each candidate who is able to attend. The Town Council candidates are scheduled first, then the School Committee candidates, and finally the legislative candidates.
The floor will then be open for questions, and there will be a moderator. The candidates will be given time limits for their responses.
The purpose of the event, Ruth said, is to help voters become informed not only about the candidates, but also about the municipal and state election process.
For information, contact Harold Mailman at 848-5184, or Kathryn Ruth at 848-3485.
The municipal positions will be filled during elections 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, in the meeting room of the Hermon Municipal Building.
