Warriors roll past Hawks

DYER BROOK – Mike Lopez tallied three goals as the Warriors cruised to their 10th win of the season Thursday with a convincing 8-0 victory over Hodgdon.

Corey Edkins contributed two goals and an assist for 10-2-2 Southern Aroostook. Zac Austin added a goal and an assist. Evan McGary and Tom St. Pierre each scored a goal and Jeff Boutilier made eight saves on 16 shots.

Matt Hanning stopped 15 of 38 shots for the 3-8-3 Hawks.

Ashland 5, Wisdom 0

At Ashland, Bruce Oakes scored his 13th and 14th goals of the season and assisted on another as the Hornets rolled past the Pioneers.

Brock Bessey and Jesse Good scored a goal and picked up assists and Allan O’Clair also scored for 7-6-1 Ashland. Kenny Lewin and Brandon Millett assisted on goals and Buck Pineau saved two of three shots.

Curtis Roy made 21 saves on 42 shots for 0-14 Wisdom of St. Agatha.

Shead 5, Lubec 0

At Eastport, Darin Constant, Danny Marshall and Ben Maloney each scored a goal, and combined to stop all seven shots they faced in net as the Tigers downed the Hornets.

Maloney also had an assist for 11-3 Shead. Adam Clark had two assists, and Mike Barnard and Anthony Louie had a goal each. Gerald Holmes added an assist.

Jordan Hall made 28 saves against 52 shots for 0-13-1 Lubec.

Central Aroostook 1, Easton 0

At Easton, Bryan Grew’s goal off a Jake Delano pass with 12:32 remaining in the first half gave Central Aroostook its regular season-ending triumph.

Central Aroostook of Mars Hill wound up 4-8-2. Easton is 4-8-1.

Adam Crew made 18 saves on 24 shots for the winners while Kyle Wells stopped 12 of 17 for Easton.

Washington Acad. 2, Machias 0

At Machias, in the Downeast Athletic Conference championship game, Whitney Stevens scored a first-half goal and assisted on Jared Gray’s second-half insurance goal and Jason Labonte stopped all 13 shots as the Raiders got by the Tigers.

Nikolay Musarskiy assisted on Steven’s game-winner Washington Academy of East Machias..

Marcus Frutchey made eight saves for Machias.

Piscataquis 1, Schenck 0 (OT)

At Guilford, Chase Burdin knocked in the game-winner 37 seconds into overtime from 10 yards out to give the Pirates their first overtime win of the season.

Their previous four had been ties.

Ben Stearns sent a perfect pass from the 18-yard line over to Burdin on the left wing for 9-0-5 Piscataquis. Josh Luellen scooped up nine saves off 15 shots.

Mike Rossignol stopped 16 out of 25 shots for the 8-4-2 Wolverines of East Millinocket.

Girls soccer

Caribou 8, Madawaska 0

At Caribou, Lindsay Burlock and Michelle Ouellette each had two goals plus an assist as the Vikings downed the Owls.

Jenna Vincent notched two goals for 13-1 Caribou. Simone Willett had a goal plus an assist, and Chelsea Reynolds added a goal. Amelia Cote, Shelby Cousins and Lauren Harrigan had an assist each. Leah Drew made five saves on eight shots.

Michelle Lavertu and Lee LaPlante combined to stop seven out of 30 shots for 3-10-1 Madawaska.

JV: Madawaska 1-0

So. Aroostook 2, Hodgdon 1

At Dyer Brook, Mindy Watson’s goal with 17 minutes remaining in the match gave the Warriors the win over the Hawks.

Olivia McGary picked up an assist on the goal while Maggie Watson scored 4-10 Southern Aroostook’s first goal. Audrey Charette made 13 saves on 14 shots.

Shanna McGary scored for 10-4 Hodgdon and Lindsay Stewart turned away 10 of 13 shots.

Central Aroostook 5, Easton 0

At Easton, Stevi Fletcher scored a pair of goals and assisted on two others to pace Central Aroostook to its ninth win against four losses. Easton finished at 0-14.

Jenna Robinson had a pair of goals, Samantha Brewer had the other goal and Angie Brewer and Brittany Collins had assists. Brittany Lundeen made four saves.

Easton’s Korrin Patterson and Toni Ladner combined for 20 saves.

Wisdom 1, Ashland 0

At Ashland, Kristen Marquis’ goal 3:53 into the game off a Christa Lizotte assist stood up and gave the visiting Wisdom Pioneers of St. Agatha the win.

Shannon Berube made 12 saves on 28 shots to lead the 11-3 Pioneers.

Ashley Nemer made five saves on six shots for the 5-8-1 Hornets.

Houlton 0, Fort Kent 0 (2OT)

At Houlton, the Aroostook Country rivals battled to a double-overtime deadlock.

The 5-8-1 Shiretowners’ Anna Lenentine and the 6-6-2 Warriors’ Mindy Morneault each made seven saves on eight shots.

Woodland 3, Narraguagus 1

At Woodland, Kaitlyn Leeman collected three goals in the second half, including a penalty kick, to help the Dragons capture the Downeast Athletic Conference Championship.

Beth Covey dished out an assist for 11-3-1 Woodland, who was outshot 12-2 in the first half, and 22-13 for the game. Only one of those 22 shots got past netminder Lauren Troiani (21 saves, 22 shots).

Missy Barbee registered an unassisted goal for the 10-3 Knights of Harrington. Alicia Tenney stopped nine out of 13 shots.
