Dexter defeats Orono 21-7

DEXTER – Aaron Vafiades had 30 carries for 134 yards and one touchdown to lead the Dexter Tigers to a 21-7 high school football victory over the Orono Red Riots Saturdayl.

Vafiades also had nine tackles, two sacks, and one fumble recovery to lead the Dexter defense.

Adam Russell had 18 carries for 96 yards and one touchdown for the Tigers and Josh Bishop had 10 tackles and a fumble recovery. Ben Pomerleau intercepted a pass and returned it 70 yards for a touchdown, and Eric Day had an interception and booted three extra points.

Lance Cowan caught a 52- yard pass from Ryan Levesque to score a touchdown for the Red Riots. Jeffrey Miller had one extra point kick.

Winslow 34, Hampden 12

At Winslow, tailback Ricky Vigue ran wild and showed he’s back in top form after missing the majority of the season with an injury as he rushed for two touchdowns and 206 yards and caught a touchdown pass to lead the Black Raiders past Hampden Academy.

The Black Raiders held a slim 20-12 lead heading into the fourth quarter, but back-to-back touchdown runs by Derek Runnells and Vigue put the game on ice.

Hampden quarterback Clayton Tunney three two touchdown passes.
