HAMPDEN – Barrett Dionne hurled a perfect game, striking out 15 Hampden batters, to lead Bangor West to an 8-0 win over Hampden in the District 3 Little League baseball tournament.
Bangor West, 4-0, earned the Penobscot Division title with the win.
Dionne’s effort was the third no-hitter in four games for the Bangor West pitching staff. In the team’s other win Dionne threw a one-hitter. Dionne and pitcher Jeremy Karam, who has two no-hitters in the tournament, have combined for 56 strikeouts and given up only four walks in 24 innings.
Karam and Dan Martin smashed back-to-back home runs for Bangor West in the fifth, and after a strikeout, Bobby Fillion added a solo homer. Martin finished with a homer and a double for two RBIs. Josh Johnson added a double.
