Richard paces Husson win

CASTINE – David Richard scored two of Husson’s three goals during a 10-minute span of the second half Wednesday night to propel the Braves to a 3-2 men’s soccer victory over Maine Maritime Academy.

Richard converted assists from Aaron Cowan and Matt Bell, who had the other goal in the flurry. Justin Widdecombe made five saves on 15 shots for the 5-9-1 Braves of Bangor.

Derek Wilding and Wels Baker tallied for the 2-12 Mariners. Derek Keenan and Matt Gopsill added assists. Dan Loebel made 10 saves on 19 shots.

Colby 5, St. Joseph’s 0

At Waterville, Jamie Lue tallied two goals and an assist to lead the White Mules.

Zach Shull, Monty Hankin and Mike Jarcho notched a goal each for Colby. Ryan Boccuzzi had two assists. Brian Davidson made one save on four shots.

Jeff Yaeger made nine saves on 29 shots for the Monks of Standish.

UM-Farmington 2, Thomas 0

At Waterville, Shuki Fukami notched two goals, both of which were assisted by Jeff Beck, as the Beavers prevailed.

Ryan Hersey made five saves on eight shots to earn the shutout for 9-4-1 UMaine-Farmington.

Ryan Conley blocked 17 of 27 shots for the 4-10-1 Terriers.

Field hockey

Bowdoin 1, UM-Farmington 0

At Farmington, Marissa O’Neal scored a first-half goal with an assist from Jackie Templeton to lift Bowdoin to victory over UMaine-Farmington

Gillian McDonald didn’t have to make a save for 10-2 Bowdoin of Brunswick.

Fawn Albert had seven saves for the 9-5 Beavers.
