BELFAST — The Chamber Theatre of Maine will offer its initial theater presentation, “The Gin Game,” at Baycenter in Belfast from July 17 through July 21. Three matinee performances are scheduled at 2 p.m. July 17, 18, and 19. Evening shows at 8 p.m. will be performed on July 20 and 21.
The Chamber Theatre of Maine has invited its sister theater, The Chamber of the Palm Beaches in Florida, to offer this first presentation. “The Gin Game,” by D.L. Coburn, won the Pulitzer Prize for dramatic literature in 1978 and has been performed the world over by Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn.
It will be performed by Tillie Parker and Joseph Teller, who have acted for more than 30 years in New Jersey.
In addition to their Belfast performances, they will do the play in Blue Hill at The Left Bank Cafe at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 22, as part of the Cape’s Sunday Night Theater Series. Also, they will appear as guest artist instructors with the theater classes that are part of the “Arts Alive” program at Baycenter in Belfast this summer.
For those interested in seeing “The Gin Game,” reservations are encouraged. Call 338-3717 or 525-0927. Admission is $5, payable at the door.
