EAST SULLIVAN – Evan Stinson scored the game’s only goal to give the Orono Red Riots a 1-0 schoolboy soccer victory over the Sumner Tigers Thursday.
Goalkeeper Scott Cunningham had 12 saves on 21 shots for 9-4-1 Orono.
For 7-6-1 Sumner, Mike Bills saved nine out of the 15 shots he faced.
Orono also won the JV game 4-0.
Bangor 6, Old Town 0
At the Bangor High field under the lights, Tony Caristi and Travis Godsoe each scored two goals to lead the Rams past the Indians in the final game for both teams.
Dan Shubert and Justin Payson each added a goal for the 4-6-4 winners. Godsoe, Caristi, Erik Remsen, Peter Ogilvie, and Chris Tannis chipped in with an assist apiece. Goalie Tim Wright made two saves on three shots.
For 0-14 Old Town, goalie Josh Mitchell made 15 saves on 29 shots.
Greenville 5, Valley 1
At Bingham, Greenville received goals from Scott Anderson, Justin Owens, Mike Burgess, C.B. Grenier and Ian Morrill to conclude its regular season at 10-3.
Anderson and Pat Libby each had assists and Josh Glavine made three saves on five shots.
Dustin Cool scored the goal for 4-7 Valley and Dustin Giberson made 26 saves on 39 shots.
George Stevens 5, Searsport 0
At Blue Hill, Scott Murphy and Brock Mattson each scored two goals as the George Stevens Academy Eagles finished their regular season with a victory.
Keith Marcinkus added an unassisted goal and Will Bussey notched an assist for the 8-4-2 winners. Goalie Chris Pickering made six saves on eight shots.
For Searsport, 4-8, goalie Sione Taungatua made 23 saves on 37 shots.
PCHS 1, Dexter 0
At Dexter, Todd Tufts scored off a set up from Abe Harrington as Piscataquis Community of Guilford edged Dexter.
Goalkeeper Tony Draper stopped 13 out of 24 shots for 13-1 PCHS.
For 1-12-1 Dexter, Aaron Sargent had 23 saves on 24 shots.
Machias 3, Washington Acad. 1
At Machias, Adam Kilton scored one goal and set up another to lead the host Bulldogs to victory in their regular-season finale.
Patrick O’Keefe and Justin Hayward scored one goal each for 7-4-3 Machias to support goalkeeper Aaron Coffin, who made six saves on seven shots.
Adam Grant scored off a Rob Jewers assist for 4-8 Washington Academy of East Machias. Jason Ackley made seven saves on 10 shots.
Jones.-Beals 3, Narraguagus 2
At Jonesport, Stephen Bean scored the winning goal 3:47 into the second overtime and added an assist to help Jonesport-Beals defeat Narraguagus of Harrington.
Jared Fagonde scored two goals for 12-2 Jonesport-Beals.
For Narraguagus, Gordon Paul and Micky Willey each had unassisted goals. ‘Keeper Keegan Beal made 22 saves on 28 shots.
Goalie Byron Carver saved 15 of 24 shots.
Calais 5, Lubec 1
At Lubec, three goals and an assist from Eric MacDonald gave Calais the victory over Lubec.
Brian McDonald and Craig Griffin also scored for Calais. Matt Raye made nine saves on the 12 shots he faced in the net.
For 1-10-1 Lubec, Daniel Wormell scored. Goalie Wade Miller stopped 18 of 28 shots.
Woodland 4, Shead 1
At Eastport, four separate goals from Joe Viselli, Rob Brown, Andrew Speed and Jason Manza led Woodland past Shead (1-13). Mike Dwelley had an assist for Woodland.
For Shead, Shawn Small scored an unassisted goal. Goalkeeper Tom Ripley recorded 11 saves on 17 shots.
Nate Martell made six saves on eight shots in goal for Shead.
Girls soccer
Schenck 2, PVHS 1
At East Millinocket, Heather Rosebush scored two goals as Schenck finished the regular season with a 12-2 record, its most wins ever in the regular season, according to Coach Ron Marks.
Denise Gardner set up Rosebush’s first goal with 19:46 left in the first half and the second was unassisted nine minutes into the second half. Goalie Courtney Coffin made six saves on nine shots.
Jamie Pelletier scored unassisted with six minutes left in the game for 4-9-1 PVHS of Howland. Goalie Julie DeLaite made 10 saves on 22 shots.
Belfast 1, Oxford Hills 1 (2OT)
At Belfast, Megan Lane scored the tying and final goal of the game with 5:01 left in the first half as Belfast and Oxford Hills ended their contest deadlocked.
Amy Tikander had a goal off an assist from Mattie Macleod for Oxford Hills of South Paris. Goalie Kate Kutekunst made 18 saves on 28 Belfast shots.
Bridget Maguire stopped nine of 12 shots.
Penquis 2, Central 1
At East Corinth, Erin Weston scored one goal and assisted on another to lead the Patriots of Milo past the Red Devils in the final game for both teams.
Weston’s goal off an Amanda Haskell pass with 22:56 left in the first half proved to be the game-winner. Weston set up Barany Chessal’s goal 11:28 into the game for 5-9 Penquis. Goalie Jill Horne made 26 saves on 28 shots.
Stephanie Jackson scored off an Amanda Day assist with 16:33 left in the game for Central which finished at 6-8. Goalie Kristi Clement made 11 saves on 13 shots.
Hodgdon 2, Southern Aroostook 0
At Hodgdon, Kerri Ivey scored two first-half goals as Hodgdon finished its regular season with a 13-1 mark.
Ivey’s first goal was unassisted six minutes into the game and the second came six minutes later from an Amy Quint pass. Goalie Jodi Quint made six saves on 11 shots.
Goalie Diana Goodall made 11 saves on 19 shots for SAHS of Dyer Brook which ended at 9-3-2.
Madawaska 2, Fort Kent 0
At Madawaska, Michele Dufour broke a scoreless tie with 36:09 left and Audrey Baker added an insurance goal 5:02 later as Madawaska finished up its regular season at 7-5-2. Fort Kent wound up 4-8-2.
Karen Libby assisted on Baker’s goal and Michele Hebert made six saves on eight shots.
Fort Kent goalie Sherry Campagne made 11 stops on 24 shots.
Calais 3, Woodland 0
At Calais, Holli Tapley, Kim Johnson, and Kari Carter all scored to lead Calais past Woodland.
Tapley also had an assist for 5-4-1 Calais, and Jaime Martinez added two more.
For Woodland, now 1-11, Jillian Foley saved nine out of the 14 shots she faced in goal.
Goalie Kelly Dow made nine saves on 10 shots for Calais.
Field hockey
Belfast 2, Messalonskee 0
At Belfast, after a scoreless first half, Lee Parent beat three defenders from the 50-yard line and deflected a ball which was in the air for the first score with 24:32 remaining in the game as the Lions upset the Eagles.
Liza Bachelder scored the second goal with 17:52 left off a Misty Bennett assist. In goal for 11-3 Belfast, Staci Smith was 11-for-11, including a save on a penalty stroke.
Goalie Jess Desrosiers made five saves on seven shots for 12-2 Messalonskee of Oakland.
Messalonskee won the JV game 2-0.
