MEDFORD, Mass. – Wendy Bonner and Nikki Stadelman each had a goal in the first round of penalty strokes to lift the Colby College White Mules to a 3-2 field hockey victory over Tufts Saturday.

Kim Betz and Sari Gilbert each scored a goal in regulation for Colby, which clinched a berth in the NESCAC tournament. Carrie Morin made five saves.

Laura Hacker and Liz Hayden put in goals for Tufts and Lauren Rufino had eight saves.

New Hampshire 2, Maine 1

At Orono, Courtney Goodwin’s goal off a penalty corner with 28:13 left in the game was the eventual winner, lifting the Wildcats past the Black Bears.

Maine finishes the regular season at 14-3 and has the No. 3 seed for the America East tournament.

Marcie Boyer assisted on the winning play for 12-7 UNH. Jen Stamp added a goal in the first half and Christine Buckley made 10 saves on 21 shots.

Tara Bedard knocked in a Kristy Ferran pass for the Bears. Colbey Smith and Jaye Lance combined for four saves on 11 shots.

UM-Farmington 5, Lasell 0

At Farmington Saturday, Sarah Dailey tallied three assists to lead the Beavers to a North Atlantic Conference quarterfinal win.

Amanda Nimon scored twice for UMF, now 10-6. Angie White had a goal and an assist. Dorice Reitchel and Nikki Levesque each chipped in with a goal. Fawn Albert had five saves to register her eighth shutout.

Linda Williams made 15 saves for Lasell (3-13).

Bowdoin 2, Bates 0

At Brunswick Saturday, goalie Gillian McDonald made three saves to earn a shutout and lift the 11-3 Polar Bears to a win and the NESCAC regular-season title.

Bowdoin’s Leah McClure knocked in the eventual game-winner in the first half with an assist from Amanda Burrage. Marissa O’Neill converted a Faye Hargate pass later in the first period.

Lindsay Gary had four saves for the 7-7 Bobcats.

Southern Maine 1, Bridgewater 0

At Gorham, senior forward Sarah Dolley scored the only goal midway through the second half to lead the 12-6 University of Southern Maine to victory on Saturday.

Renee Heath had the assist on the game-winner while Jessie Superchi made 12 saves.

Johannah Price stopped two shots in goal for 8-7 Bridgewater State.

Wesleyan 2, Colby 1 (OT)

At Middletown, Conn., Melissa Courtemanche scored the game-winning goal on a penalty corner in the first overtime with assists from Sonya Behnke and Jenna Flateman.

Laura Pfeiffenberger scored with an assist from Couremanche while Lindsay Wasserman made five saves on nine shots for 10-5 Wesleyan.

Lyndsay Peters scored off a pass from Wendy Bonner for 10-5 Colby while Carrie Morin stopped 10 of 16 shots.

Women’s soccer

UM-Machias 4, Husson 0

At Bangor, Stefanie Hannan scored two goals in the second half, one of which came on a penalty kick, and contributed an assist to power the No. 5 Clippers by the No. 4 Braves in a Sunrise Conference quarterfinal Saturday.

Raechelle Brooks and Erin O’Callahan chipped in with goals for 9-5-1 UMM. Tricia Farrell stopped two of 11 shots.

Meg Taylor made seven saves on 17 shots for the 7-9-1 Braves.

Bowdoin 2, Bates 1

At Brunswick, Jill Falwell scored what would be the game-winning goal with an assist from Shelly Chessie to help give 10-3-1 Bowdoin the win on Saturday.

Christina Woodward scored the first goal for the Polar Bears off a Hillary Smith pass while Anna Shapell made one save.

Katie Carroll scored with an assist from Jenna Benson and Kim Martell made two saves for 6-7 Bates.

Tufts 1, Colby 0

At Medford, Mass., Saturday, Cara Glassanos scored at the 33-minute mark to give Tufts the edge.

Meg McCourt stopped five of five shots in goal for Tufts and Elizabeth Riley faced 25 shots and made four saves for 5-9 Colby.

Western Conn. 3, USM 0

At Danbury, Conn., Cherie Bailey had a goal and an assist while Jenn Marquis recorded two assists as 15-3-0 Western Connecticut defeated Southern Maine on Sunday.

Heather Thurston and Nicole Corbin each added goals while Kristen Bartholomew made one save on three shots.

Marcy Ansley and Rachel Kwantz combined to stop three of the 12 shots they faced for the 4-12-0 Huskies.

Lasell 2, Maine Maritime 0

At Newton, Mass., Marina Anderson scored and had an assists to help lead 11-5-1 Lasell to the win on Sunday.

Kim Jordan scored Lasell’s first goal and Britney Fulite made six saves in net.

Megan Marshall made eight saves in goal for 5-7-3 Maine Maritime Academy.

Tufts 3, Colby 0

At Medford, Mass., David Delvea scored with an assist from Andy Stevenson in the first overtime to give 9-4-1 Tufts the win on Saturday.

Brett Wong scored and had an assist for Tufts while Matt MacGregor added a goal and Scott Conroy stopped five of 10 shots.

Senior defender Michael Jarcho tied up the game in the 89th minute to send the game into overtime. Ryan Boccuzzi scored the first goals for 6-8 Colby while Andrew Danzinger faced 18 shots and stopped seven.

Bates 0, Bowdoin 0 (2OT)

At Brunswick Saturday, Bates had a potential game-winning goal called off with nine minutes remaining in the game while a Bowdoin shot just missed the goal with 30 seconds to go.

James Kenly made eight saves for 6-6-2 Bates while Travis Derr stopped three shots for 10-2-2 Bowdoin.

Western Conn. 1, USM 0

At Gorham, John Pease scored the only goal of the game unassisted in the 56th minute to give 13-2-5 Western Connecticut the win Saturday.

Mark Pataky stopped one of three shots.

Dan Hills made four saves on eight shots for the 4-10-3 University of Southern Maine.

Johnson State 5, MMA 1

At Johnson, Vt., five different players scored to lead 7-7-2 Johnson State past Maine Maritime on Sunday.

Jefferson Hales, Andrew Cournoyer, Devin Corey, Eric Duany, and Kyle Coshow each had goals while Noah Labow had two assists. Patrick McDonough tallied an assist while Nathan Gardner stopped three shots.

Dan Loebel made four saves in net for 2-11 Maine Maritime Acadmey.

UM-Fort Kent 2, Husson 0

At Fort Kent, Sunday, Andrew Clavette and Josh Roy each scored an unassisted goal to carry No. 3 UMaine-Fort Keny by No. 6 Husson in a Sunrise Conference quarterfina.

Chad Bouchard made seven saves for the shutout for 15-1-1 UMFK.

Matt Goodman stopped nine shots in goal for 5-10 Husson of Bangor.

Albany 3, Maine 0

At Albany, N.Y., Saturday, Jill Dombrowski racked up 45 set assists to power the Great Danes past the Black Bears 30-21, 30-22, 35-33.

Kristin Norton had 17 kills and eight digs for 14-11 Albany. Alissa Gibbs had 14 kills and 12 digs.

Leah Guidinger paced 8-17 Maine with seven kills and 10 digs. Carmen Gabriel tallied seven kills, eight digs and 25 set assists.

Women’s ice hockey

New Hampshire sweeps Maine

At Durham, N.H., the ninth-ranked UNH Wildcats edged Maine 1-0 Sunday after notching an emphatic 5-1 win on Saturday.

On Sunday, Carolyn Gordon sneaked a shot by goalie Lara Smart with 10:25 to play to give the Wildcats a weekend sweep.

For the 7-0 Wildcats, Stephanie Jones and Kristen Thomas assisted on the goal while Jen Huggon saved all 15 shots.

For the 2-2 Bears, Smart made 24 saves on 25 shots.

On Saturday, Randi MacMaster and Kristine Butt scored goals two minutes apart to spark the Wildcats.

Vicki Davis, Kristen Davis and Allison Edgar each added a goal for 6-0 UNH. Jen Huggon made 16 saves on 17 shots.

Nicole Munro netted a goal for 2-1 Maine in the second period with assists from Cindy Biron and Vicky Johnstone. Dawn Froats had 26 saves on 31 shots.
