STETSON — Stetson Days began Saturday, July 21, under sunny skies with dozens of people attending events. Beginning with skydiving at 9 a.m. and ending with a dance at night, the two-day celebration offered something for everyone.
A large craft section offered handmade items for sale; face painting, spinning and weaving demonstrations; a book sale, a bake sale, refreshments and yard sales. A car wash was held nearby, as well as a photography and art exhibition.
The theme for the event was “Once Upon a Time” and the floats, decorated bikes and period costumes reflected that theme. The Saturday night dance was a ’50s and ’60s dance, with ribbons for those best dressed for the occasion.
Pony rides, ice cream eating contests, cookout with strawberry shortcake, children’s games, adult volleyball, and horseshoes rounded out the day’s entertainment.
Sunday, although gloomy and rainy, did nothing to dampen the spirits in Stetson as a park dedication and house tour were the highlights of the day. There was also a pet show and family picnic.
