BREWER – The Brewer Witches used strong man-to-man defense to beat the Lawrence Bulldogs 44-40 in schoolgirl basketball action at Brewer High Friday night.
Another key for the Witches was their ability to break Lawrence’s full-court pressure. The Bulldogs of Fairfield are the four-time defending state champions.
Point guard Denise Hewes spearheaded the Brewer effort with 17 points, while Brynn Clough complemented her with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Erika Veilleux led the way for Lawrence with 14 points.
