Sumner downs Raiders

EAST MACHIAS – Brenton Parritt nailed two consecutive 3-pointers early in the fourth quarter to give Sumner the lead and Dave Seward made eight of 10 free throw attempts down the stretch as the Eagles posted a 60-54 win over Washington Academy Tuesday.

Seward finished with 19 points for the winners from East Sulllivan, while Parritt and James Schwartz had 15 points each.

Justin Crosman had 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Raiders, while T.J. Sprague added 12 points and eight assists and Dallas Quarles had 11 points and 19 rebounds.

At Greenville, Rance McEachern tossed in 18 points to lead a balanced scoring attack and carry the host Lakers to the win over Piscataquis Community of Guilford.

Chad Owens added 15 points and Darcy Turner tallied 14 for the winners. Mike Burgess gathered in 14 rebounds.

The Pirates were led by Kam Kimball’s 16 points and Curtis Graffam’s 14.

At Greenville, Piscataquis Community of Guilford took advantage of the Laker’s foul trouble while gaining the upper hand in the fourth quarter.

Jamie Durant and Jen Moore connected for 16 points each to spearhead the effort for the Pirates.

Maren Muzzy scored a game-high 18 points to spark Greenville, while Jen Searles provided nine points and eight rebounds and Sara Hanscom 10 rebounds.
