MACHIAS — A Cherryfield woman involved in a motor vehicle accident in which a Harrington woman died was named in an indictment handed up last week in Washington County Superior Court.
Peggy Strout, 38, was charged with aggravated operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor, drugs or a combination of liquor and drugs or while having a 0.08 percent blood-alcohol level, resulting in the death of Maureen Torrey, 39, of Harrington on Dec. 11, 1994.
Torrey was a passenger in a 1985 Chevrolet driven by Nora Robinson, 28, of Harrington when the accident occurred. The Robinson vehicle collided head-on with the vehicle driven by Strout. Robinson and Strout received only minor injuries.
Other indictments handed up include:
Horace Thompson Jr., 31, Milbridge, criminal threatening with use of dangerous weapon, Class C; assault, Class D; two ancillary counts based on prior convictions on charges of assault.
Richard Perry, 36, Sedgwick, burglary, Class B, two counts; theft, Class C; theft, Class E.
Bertha Wood of East Machias, unlawful trafficking in Schedule W drugs, Class B.
Richard Moulton of Machias, trafficking in Schedule W drugs, Class B, two counts.
Jody L. Howard, 35, Machiasport, kidnapping; criminal threatening with dangerous weapon.
Kevin Johnson, 20, Eastport, forgery, Class C; theft by deception; theft by unauthorized taking and transfer.
Blaine W. Cushing, 39, Perry, operating motor vehicle as habitual offender; operating a motor vehicle while under influence of intoxicating liquor.
Chester M. Carter Jr., 38, Dennysville, unlawful possession of a Schedule W Drug, Class C; unlawful furnishing of Schedule Z drug, Class D; ancillary count based on prior conviction on a charge of operating while under influence of intoxicating liquor.
Anthony J. Hatt, 22, Calais, burglary, Class C; theft by unauthorized taking and transfer.
Albert Harvey, 41, Princeton, assault on officer.
Harold Hayman, 47, Houlton, criminal threatening; operating a motor vehicle while under influence of intoxicating liquor; operating a motor vehicle while license suspended; two ancillary counts based on prior convictions on charges of assault.
