The Other Voices editorial republished in the Bangor Daily News on Oct. 26-27, denouncing student tobacco testing, claims those tests are “absurd” and “a violation of their civil rights.” This came from the heart of the tobacco belt, and was only pro-drug tobacco industry propaganda. The simple testing procedure is no different from those performed on anyone who has a common medical checkup.
Tobacco addiction is a more serious and harmful drug problem than most people think. We must be vigilant and use any useful method known to detect this toxic, brain-damaging abuse and get our youth off of it.
