TAMC donates supplies to Nicaraguan hospitals

PRESQUE ISLE — The Aroostook Medical Center has helped bring medical donations to a hospital in Rio Cocco, Nicaragua, which is controlled by the government and lacks basic supplies.

Partners in Health, a group of healthcare professionals that includes TAMC general surgeon Dr. Robert Bach, has donated much of the equipment and supplies that go to the two northern Nicaragua hospitals that serve more than 140,000 people.

The medical center’s material management department donated a 20-year-old fracture table and some products such as latex gloves and surgery supplies. Acadia Home Care and Invacare donated respiratory equipment and Yellow Freight brought the equipment to Bangor for the shipment to Nicaragua.
