FORT KENT – Susan Butcher, four-time winner of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race in Alaska, may be in Fort Kent for the 1996 running of the Can Am International Sled Dog Race.

Butcher, of Fairbanks, Alaska, was invited to the 1995 running of the 25-mile classic, but was unable to make the race.

After the Fort Kent race, Butcher was sent clippings of the three-day race. Responding, Butcher wrote, “Thank you for your letter, dated March 1, 1995, and the stories and coverage of the 1995 races. If all goes well, I hope to be there in 1996.”
