FARMINGTON – Erik Dellinger’s two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth gave the University of Maine-Farmington a 9-8 men’s baseball victory over Bates College of Lewiston here Wednesday.

UMF came back from an 8-3 deficit in the eighth. Todd Drinkwater and Mike Young each had three singles to pace the 4-15 Beavers.

For the 7-5 Bobcats, Pat Cosquer, Jason Verner, and Craig Machnik each had two hits.

Husson sweeps UMPI

At Bangor, Husson had a victorious day over the University of Maine-Presque Isle with 2-0 and 10-4 wins.

In the first game, Husson’s Denise Schrier had two singles. Jess Moore was a leader with two singles, a triple in the fifth and an RBI. Michelle Cogan had a single and an RBI along with a triple in the first. Pitcher Amanda Pomerleau is now 16-3.

In the second game, Denise Schrier had two singles and one RBI for Husson. Marianne Lampert had two runs and a single in the third.

UMF sweeps Westbrook

At Farmington, the University of Maine-Farmington exploded in the first inning off back-to-back triples from Ann Connolly and Krista Meyer, followed by a two singles and a three-run triple by Michelle Adkins to beat Westbrook 12-0. UMF won the second game 9-0.

Adkins added a three-run homer to back winning pitcher Becky Vaughn (9-4).

Nicole Searles paced UMF in the second game with a double and three RBIs. Adkins added two hits and an RBI.
