Whitlock rolls to ACT victory

OXFORD – Dave Whitlock of Petrolia, Ontario claimed victory in the ACT Tour’s VIP Discount Auto/Gumout 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway on Sunday.

Whitlock took the lead for the first time on lap 54. He then battled Ralph Nason Sr. of Unity, trading positions down the strech. In the end it was Whitlock taking the checkered flagg with Nason second. Jeff Taylor of Farmington brought home third. The next race on the ACT Tour schedule is in Plattsburgh, NY. on June 17.

On Friday, Jeff Taylor of Farmington regained the season point lead with his victory in the Pro Stock divison.

Jim Preble of Readfield, who was looking for his first carrer win, led for most of the race. Taylor overtook Preble with only two laps remaining in the race. Skip Hodgdon of Minot finished third.

Beech Ridge Motor Speedway

At Scarborough, Ryan Shepard of Saco picked up his first win of the season taking the checkered flagg in the Limited Sportsman Divison Semi-Feature on Saturday.

Jerome Boucher of Biddeford took second and Joe Hennessey finished third. All other features were cancelled due to rain. They will be made up on June 17 as part of an expanded program for that night.

Speedway 95

At Bangor, John Phippen Jr. of Bar Harbor took his second Late Model Sportsman feature flag of the season, passing Harrington’s Dave McLaughlin with three laps left in the race Sunday afternoon.

Phippen led from the start, until McLaughlin beat him off the restart in lap 25, but regained the lead with the second caution caused by third place finisher Jon Austin of Otis.

Austin hung on to third despite his run-in with Roger Richards of Bradford.

Epping, NH, Regis LePage of Auburn took first in the Super Comp division on Sunday.

LePage ran his 1969 Camaro over 150 mph for the victory. Val Digenova of Derry, NH placed second.

Unity Raceway

Benton’s Larry Pottle got his first win of the season in the 75-lap Coca-Cola Classic Series No. 1 here Sunday night. Pottle drove his Thunderbird flawlessly throughout the race, staving off four restarts on his way to a $1,000 payoff.

Duane Seekins was second in the race.
