HERMON – The American Heart Association has recognized two Hermon Elementary School teachers for their participation in the Jump Rope for Heart program.
Recognized were Debra Aucoin, physical education instructor, and Sue Nile, jump-hoop coordinator for the Maine Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
Hermon Elementary School was recognized at the Samoset Resort in Rockland during a conference Nov. 4-6 for raising more than $75,000 in donations from 1988 to 2002, and Aucoin was given an Outstanding Coordinator plaque in recognition of her 15 years of commitment to the program at the school.
Funds raised help support the American Heart Association’s research and educational programs, which are used in the fight against heart disease and stroke. Jump Rope for Heart promotes physical fitness and heart health through jump-rope. It is co-sponsored by the American Heart Association and MAHPERD.
