Merryspring Park Talks to focus on roses, moose

CAMDEN — From the world of delicate roses to the world of the “not so delicate” moose, the Merryspring Talks promise to both entertain and educate their audiences. At 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, Lloyd Brace of Rosearie at Bayfields will discuss “Landscaping Uses of Hardy and Old Fashioned Roses.” At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 20, a representative from College of the Atlantic’s Natural History Museum will present the museum’s “Moveable Moose” program.

The programs will be held rain or shine at the Merryspring Park Hexagon. The park entrance is at the end of Conway Road, a short road located off Route 1 between the IGA Plaza and the Subway Restaurant. In the event of a bad storm, the talks are moved to the St. John Methodist Church. Talks are free to Merryspring members and $2 for nonmembers.

The Merryspring Park Talks series is just one of the many public services offered by Merryspring, a nonprofit organization. The park itself, a 66-acre horticultural nature park center, is open to the public, 365 days a year from dawn to dusk, free of charge. For more information about the talks or about other Merryspring programs, call director John Evrard, 236-2239.
