BIDDEFORD – James Malley came off the bench to score 23 points on 10 of 11 shooting to carry the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers to a 105-99 men’s basketball victory over the U-New England Nor’easters Monday night.
The Beavers made 5 of 6 free throws in the final 17 seconds to hold off a UNE rally.
Travis Magnusson scored 23 points, Thad Broughton had 13, Steve Ginn and Bob Deetjen tossed in 12 apiece for UMF. John Bird and Luke Nielsen added 10 points each.
Matt McManus topped the Nor’Easters with 23 points while Brandon Berthiaume scored 18 points and Dan Mills connected on four 3-pointers for 12 points. Mark Regis added 11 points and Mark Oliver had 10 points.

At Biddeford, freshman Hannah Socoby scored on a five-footer as time expired as UMaine-Farmington completed its comeback from a 14-point halftime deficit.
Megan Woodcock headed a list of four Beavers in double figures with 14 points. Jocelyn Sawyer tossed in 13 while Socoby and Cheryl Kempton added 10 each.
Missy Stults paced the University of New England with a game-high 20 points and 11 rebounds.
