Tigers, Ripley extinguish Dragons’ fire

EASTPORT – Tom Ripley stopped 15 shots on goal as the 5-4-4 Tigers posted the 2-0 Shead shutout against Woodland in schoolboy soccer Thursday afternoon.

John Braughton and Ricky Cox provided the offense. Kris Kilby assisted on Braughton’sgoal.

Rob Brown made 12 saves on 15 shots for 8-5-1 Woodland.

Presque Isle 1, Caribou 1 (2OT)

At Presque Isle, Eric Saucier scored on a penalty kick with 15:16 left in the second half to give Presque Isle a tie.

Ryan Czosnek made four saves on seven shots for the 9-3-2 Wildcats.

Andrea Oliverio scored with 24:09 left in the second half on an assist from Ryan Soucie for the 3-8-1 Vikings. Jason St. Peter made 12 saves on 17 shots.

Greenville 2, Lee 1

At Lee, Jeremy Philbrook scored off a feed from Matt Burgess with 29 minutes to play to snap a 1-1 tie and improve Greenville’s record to 9-2-1.

C.B. Grenier tied the score for Greenville with an unassisted goal in the first half, and Josh Glavine made 16 saves in net to secure the victory.

Justin Saucier scored Lee’s only goal unassisted, and Jon Cole made 30 stops in goal. Lee is 5-4-3.

Calais 5, Lubec 0

At Calais, five different players scored as the Blue Devils improved to 11-1 on the season.

Chris Rhode, Kevin Taylor, Matt Coburn, Nathan Allen and Aaron Clark each scored for the host Blue Devils. Rhode and Josh Peters each tallied assists. Dennis Ryan and Bob McManus combined to make four saves on five shots.

Mark McCurdy made 13 saves on 25 shots for 3-8-1 Lubec.

Vinalhaven 3, Islesboro 1

At Islesboro, Wesley Chilles had two goals and an assist to lead 7-4-1 Vinalhaven to the victory.

Bruce Philip added a goal and two assists to the Vikings attack. Colby Oaks made five saves on 10 shots.

Abe Antonucci scored on a Josh Conover assist for 4-4 Islesboro. Scott Gallant made 10 saves on 19 shots.

Southern Aroostook 6, Hodgdon 0

At Dyer Brook, Jason Porter scored three goals and assisted on another to power Southern Aroostook past Hodgdon.

Lloyd Bragan, Brad Jones and Nick Russell scored one goal apiece for the 2-11-1 Warriors. Mason Wiles made nine saves on 15 shots.

Brett Horten made 14 saves on 21 shots for the 2-12 Hawks.

George Stevens 4, Central 0

At East Corinth, Travis Vogel, Dave Merancik, Tim Pert and Christian Newman each scored goals as 11-1-1 George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill grabbed the win.

Joe Kilch made five saves on six shots while Keith Marcinkus and Brock Mattson added assists.

Nick Parent and Rob Reynolds combined to make 12 saves on 16 shots for 4-9 Central.

Camden-Rockport 4, Mt. View 1

At Camden, Jim Butler played solid in goal and four Winjammers notched goals to pick up the win.

Brian Park, Max Leighton, Marc MacFarland and Thomas Weirowski scored the goals for 11-0-1 Camden-Rockport. Brian Ridley had two assists and Peter Madaffari had one while Butler made four saves on 12 shots.

Kevin Buttery scored the lone Mustangs goal on a penalty kick. Andrew Stevenson made 14 saves on 26 shots for 3-8-3 Mount View.

Ellsworth 2, MDI 0

At Ellsworth, Darby Higgins pair of goals powered the Eagles to the win.

Charlie DeLong added an assist for 8-2-4 Ellsworth. Matt McDonald made six saves on nine shots.

For 7-4-3 Mount Desert Island, Alfred Doyle made three saves on six shots.

Girls soccer

Southern Aroostook 6, Hodgdon 0

At Dyer Brook, Rachel Bishop tallied three goals and Kim Collier scored two and added an assist to spark Southern Aroostook to victory.

Corinne Watson added a goal and an assist for the 11-1-2 Warriors, while Suzanne Greenlaw provided an assist. Diana Goodall made 10 saves on 10 shots.

Jodi Quint made seven saves on 15 shots for 5-6-3 Hodgdon.

Presque Isle 4, Caribou 1

At Presque Isle, Shawn Callahan made 10 saves on 11 shots giving the 12-1-1 Wildcats the win.

Heather Norseworthy, Rachel Underwood, Katie Peers and Billie-Jo Deschesne each scored goals and Niki Masters, Allison Piper and Underwood added assists.

Jen Corey scored on an Allie Anderson assist for the 8-6 Vikings. Meaghan Lombard made 14 saves on 18 shots.

Penobscot Valley 2, Schenck 0

At Howland, Jessica Potter scored two goals and Carrie Braley stopped all the shots she faced as the 6-5-3 Howlers picked up the win.

Holly Rosebush made 23 saves on 31 shots for the 3-7-4 Schenck Wolverines of East Millinocket.

C-R 2, Mt. View 1

At Thorndike, Nellie Peck’s goal off a K.J. Wadsworth assist completed Camden-Rockport’s comeback with 22:09 remaining in the game.

Mount View’s Kali Tomlin gave the 8-2-4 Mustangs a 1-0 lead on a pass from Andrea Cochrane with 7:30 remaining in the first half. Leslie Clifford made 10 saves on 14 shots.

Bethany Powell’s unassisted goal 8:40 into the second half tied the game for the 8-4-1 Windjammers. Darrah Roberts made seven saves on nine shots.

Searsport 3, Bangor Christian 1

At Searsport, Ellen Donaghy scored two goals to lead the 8-3-2 Vikings to the win.

Jen Shaver scored the third Searsport goal. Chandra Robert and Rebecca Klotzle each notched assists. Jessica Barton and Klotzle combined to make five saves on nine shots.

Heidi Niles socred for 4-10 Bangor Christian. Stephanie Regan made 10 saves on 15 shots for the Patriots.

Orono 0, MDI 0 (2OT)

At Mount Desert Island, Anna Salvatore of the 10-2-2 Trojans and Jessica Libby of the 13-0-1 Red Riots were unbeatable in the nets as the teams battled to a stalemate.

Salvatore made 10 saves on 15 shots and Libby made seven saves on 13 shots.
