Balanced Mules stop Terriers

WATERVILLE – Four different Mule players scored as Colby College defeated Thomas College 4-0 in men’s soccer action.

Ty Walker, Matt Maleska, Soren Peters, and Ross McEwen notched the goals for 4-6 Colby.

Graham Nelson and Josh Davis combined to make 13 saves on 16 shots.

Dyke Lawrence made 13 saves on 19 shots for the 4-8 Terriers.

UM-Farmington 3, UM-Machias 0

At Machias, Laughn Berthiaume scored two goals and assisted on another as the 8-1 Beavers downed UMaine-Machias.

Jamie Beaudoin scored and had an assist while Jason Tanguay notched an assist for UM-Farmington. Josh Verveille and Chris Roy combined for six saves on 12 shots.

Patrick Lewis made nine saves on 21 shots for the 2-8-1 Clippers.

Women’s soccer

USM 2, UM-Farmington 0

At Gorham, sophomore forward Debbie Jandreau had a goal and assisted on another as the 3-9 Huskies got the win.

Melissa Weymouth picked up the second Huskies goal. Mandy King also had an assist. Jennifer Poliquin got the win in the net.

Cindy Eggleston took the loss for the 3-7 Beavers.

Field hockey

USM 4, UM-Farmington 3 (OT)

At Gorham, junior Karla Gentile scored her first goal of the season with 5:22 remaining in the first overtime to give the 2-9-1 Huskies the victory.

Meredith Bradley, Julie Funicello and Erika Allen each scored for Southern Maine. Shana Gordon and Gentile notched assists. Katy Stebbins got the win in the net.

Krista Meyer’s second goal of the game for the 6-6 Beavers sent the contest to overtime. Kelly Duffy had the first UM-Farmington goal. Meyer and Jen Croteau had assists. Nicole Searles took the loss in net for the Beavers.
