The Husson College Braves men’s basketball team enjoyed a productive trip to Aroostook County over the weekend, beating the UMaine-Presque Isle Owls on Sunday 83-61 and the UM-Fort Kent Bengals 96-87 on Saturday.
At Presque Isle Sunday, Dwayne Alley poured in 18 points to lead the Braves of Bangor to the win.
Jason Harvey notched 15 points for Husson, and Randy Fletcher had 12, eight of which came on free throws. Phil White added 10.
Dan Emerson led the Owls with 14.
At Fort Kent Saturday, Alley buried five 3-pointers and scored 27 points to lead the Braves to the win.
White connected for 19 points for the winners, and Fletcher and Jason Harvey had 15 each for Husson of Bangor.
Bartas Samaitis led the Bengals with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Andrew Clavette racked up 19 points, and Jose Frais 15.

TUCSON, Ariz. – Jason Gardner scored six of his 13 points over the final 2:03, including two 15-foot jumpers that put Arizona up for good, and the top-ranked Wildcats beat No. 8 Texas 73-70 Sunday.
Salim Stoudamire led the Wildcats with 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting from 3-point range and two free throws that put the Wildcats up 72-67 with 20 seconds to go.
Brian Boddicker’s only 3-pointer of the game cut it to 72-70 with 14 seconds left. Gardner made one of two free throws to give Texas a chance to tie, but T.J. Ford’s 3-pointer was short. The Longhorns got the rebound, but Brandon Mouton inexplicably took a 2-point attempt, missed and Arizona escaped with the victory.
Arizona (5-0), which was without injured forward Luke Walton, has beaten Texas (5-2) in seven consecutive years.
James Thomas had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Longhorns, who have lost two straight.
Coll. of Charleston 66, Stetson 64
DELAND, Fla. – Marcus Johnson scored 17 points and the Cougars held off a late charge from the winless Hatters.
Mike Benton added 13 points for the Cougars (7-1), who were coming off an 82-64 loss to Central Florida on Thursday.
Alexis McMillan and E.J. Gordon each had 15 points for the Hatters (0-6), who closed to 61-60 on a basket by Ravii Givens with 5:08 remaining. Scoring only on free throws, Charleston went up 66-62, but Stetson got within two on Gordon’s basket with 1:25 to play.
The Hatters had the final possession, but couldn’t get a shot off and Gordon threw an errant pass.
