Dedicated delivery

I’ve never seen his face, though on the rare occasion that I’m up between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., I have heard his truck. Until yesterday, he has faithfully delivered my dose of news each day before the sun rises. The snow drifts were so high, they devoured my mail and paper boxes. I dug through the snowbank to see if they were still there, and they were. Empty, of course, but there.

Later in the day we were digging ourselves out when a truck stopped in: It was our paper being dropped off! Our delivery guy had been out since 3 a.m. trying to get the paper to everyone on his route and apparently wasn’t stopping until we all had one. I was pleasantly surprised and very impressed: He could have just tossed it into the yard and let the snow cover it, but no, he personally saw to it we had it safely in hand. My thanks goes out to those dedicated delivery people.
