BANGOR – Sue Ann Allen scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Husson College women to an 83-59 victory over St. Joseph’s in a Maine Athletic Conference semifinal Sunday at the Bangor Auditorium.

Husson of Bangor will face the University of Maine-Farmington at 6 p.m. today at the Auditorium for the MAC title and a berth in the NAIA Div. II women’s national tournament in Angola, Ind., March 6-10. UMF (21-5) knocked off the University of New England of Biddeford 76-53 earlier Sunday.

Allen was hot for the floor with 11 field goals in 17 attempts, including hitting her only 3-point attempt. She also had three rebounds and game highs of four assists and three steals in 28 minutes of action as the Braves cruised past the Monks.

Carrie Cram contributed a dozen points and a team-high nine rebounds in only 15 minutes.

The Braves, seeded first and now 20-7, rolled to a 40-28 halftime lead over the Monks and were able to give significant playing time to all the team members Sunday.

Kim Buotte hit five 3-pointers en route to 16 points for the Monks, and Shannon Field and Kendra Marquis added 13 and 12 points, respectively. Marquis also had 11 rebounds as the fourth-seeded Monks ended their season 14-13.

The Beavers limited UNE to 18 first-half points while advancing to the title game. Sharon Connolly paced UM-Farmington with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Caryn Lasante contributed 16 points and eight rebounds, Bree Robert had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Amber Howard chipped in with 12 points and four assists for the winners.

Nancy Fournier’s 10 points and seven rebounds led the way for the Knights. Julia Hagan added eight points and eight rebounds.

Veronica Scott poured in 20 points, pulled down 17 rebounds, and blocked six shots to lead Westbrook. Jocelyn Paris tossed in 16 points.

Lori Hanscom paced St. Joseph’s with 11 points and Kerry Walsh, Jessica Duffy, and Kelly Vickers chipped in 10 apiece.
