NEIL BOYINGTON has been promoted to purchasing agent at the James River Corp. mill in Old Town. He previously served as a buyer in the mill’s purchasing department. As purchasing agent, Boyington will be responsible for the negotiation of vendor contracts and securing competitive prices for materials required by the mill.

Key Bank of Maine has promoted RODNEY MACDOUGAL to vice president and retail manager for the bank’s northern region. He will be responsible for the management of the consumer lending functions located in Presque Isle and Bangor and the collection department in Presque Isle. He will serve as the dealer representative for the northern region.no pix

United Bank of Bangor has announced that ROBERT M. PARKER JR. has been promoted to senior trust officer. Parker has been with United Bank for six years. He previously served in trust management at a large regional banking company. In his new position, Parker will direct all trust development and operations at the bank.

SCOTT A. SOMERS has been promoted to electrical-instrument engineer at Georgia-Pacific Corp.’s Northern Paper Division in Millinocket. Somers joined the central engineering department in 1977 and has worked on electrical and instrumentation projects at both the Millinocket and East Millinocket operations.no pix

MICHAEL POPP has accepted the position of mechanical engineer in the plant-engineering department at Georgia-Pacific Corp.’s Northern Paper Division in East Millinocket. Popp’s responsibilities include all engineering projects in the paper mill. A graduate of the University of Maine, he joined the company in 1976.

GARY LaPIERRE has been promoted to assistant treasurer at Key Bank of Maine. He serves as a branch loan officer in the bank’s Rockland branch. LaPierre is responsible for Key Bank’s consumer lending portfolio for the Rockland area. He also assists with the commercial lending portfolio and branch operations.no pix

Georgia-Pacific Corp. has announced that ROGER P. KNIGHT has been promoted to the position of superintendent for electricity and instrumentation at the company’s Northern Paper Division in Millinocket. Knight joined the company’s central engineering electrical group in 1969. He is a resident of Dover-Foxcroft.

JOYCE THERIAULT, branch manager of the Union Street, Bangor, office of Peoples Heritage Bank, was one of 12 bank employees to be honored at the statewide banking organization’s annual community involvement dinner. She was honored for her many community activities, including serving as an account executive for the 1989-90 United Way Campaign, vice chairman of the Greater Bangor Chamber of Commerce’s membership committee, and team captain for the bank’s March of Dimes WalkAmerica.no pix
