CARIBOU — Parents in Aroostook County who have children they think may be in need of special education services are being asked to contact Project Childfind.
Project Childfind is a program designed to identify children and youths aged birth to 20 with disabilities and who are not being served by any special program. Services could include speech therapy, occupational therapy, counseling or specialized equipment.
Parents of children up to age 5 who are not yet in school should call the Child Development Office in Caribou at 493-6687. Parents of children age 5 to 20 should contact the director of special services in their local school district.
All children being considered for assistance will be screened, and recommendations for services will be made when appropriate. All information is confidential and parents have the right to refuse services.
