White rains 3’s for 7-0 Ponies Foxcroft beats Golden Bucks

BUCKSPORT – Senior guard Danny White scored 15 points on 5-for-6 shooting from 3-point range and helped the Foxcroft Academy remain undefeated with a convincing 76-39 schoolboy basketball victory over Bucksport here Friday night.

Junior center Brandon Hall scored 12 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field and sophomore swingman Bobby Gilbert added 11 for the visiting Ponies.

Jordan Wingate lead the 1-7 Golden Bucks with 10 points as the lone double-digit scorer.

The Ponies took control of the game in the second quarter as they widened a modest 15-11 lead into a 35-20 halftime lead. Foxcroft shot 40.9 percent from 3-point range. The Bucks shot just 23 percent from the floor for the game while FA was 43.1 percent overall.

Penquis 53, Mattanawcook 51

At Lincoln, Branden McKenzie tipped in a rebound as time ran out in the game to give Penquis a narrow win over Mattanawcook.

Dustin Perkins scored 21 points for Penquis and Steve Kissell added 10.

Jon Carney netted 12 points for Mattanawcook and Nathan Cousineau had 11.
