Principal William Grant has announced the honor parts for the 1996 graduating class of East Grand High School.
Jason Davis, son of Carl and Patti Davis of Weston, is valedictorian. He was a member of the basketball and soccer teams. He was treasurer of National Honor Society, a member of the student council and a physical education assistant. Davis plans to major in mechanical engineering at the University of Maine at Orono.
Salutatorian Mandy Shain is the daughter of Clayton Shain of Sterling, Va., and Debbie Brown of Bangor. She was a member of the basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball teams. Shain participated in drama, served as a class officer, on the yearbook staff and as a physical education assistant. She plans to attend the University of Maine at Orono and major in business.
First honor essayist is Danica Thornton, daughter of George Thornton of Topsfield and Diane Carriero of Soldotna, Alaska; second honor essayist is William Franklin Godley III, son of Barbara and William Franklin Godley II of Brockton, Maine.
Commencement ceremonies will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Wyman Gymnasium.
