Central Maine Technical College

LEWISTON – Kyle Mitchell of Frankfort has been named to the dean’s list at Central Maine Technical College.

Northern Maine Technical College

PRESQUE ISLE – Erika Bickford of Kenduskeag and Brian More of Orrington have been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2002 semester at Northern Maine Technical College.

University of Maine at Farmington

FARMINGTON – Kate McGuire of Dedham was named to the NAIA All-American roster for cross country from the University of Maine at Farmington. She finished 21st at the national meet last fall.

Justin Groshon of Hampden, a member of the men’s soccer team, was named to the NAIA Scholar Athlete roster.

Alfred University

ALFRED, N.Y. – Kathryn J. Holland, a resident of Orono, and Megan L. Gray, a resident of Milford, were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2002 semester at Alfred University. Students must earn at least a 3.3 grade point average to qualify for dean’s list.

Holland is a junior in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and is a psychology major. She is a graduate of Waterford High School, and the daughter of Mary H. Bellandese of Orono.

Gray is a freshman in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and is a fine arts major. She is a graduate of John Bapst Memorial High School, and the daughter of Darrell W. Gray of Milford.

Brewer Schools

Kindergarten registration for Brewer children who will be 5 years old on or before Oct. 15 will be held 7-10 a.m. Jan. 28, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 29, and 1:30-4 p.m. Jan. 30, at Capri Street School.

Early registration is important for personnel and program planning, officials said. Therefore, morning, afternoon and evening registration times have been made available.

Parents must bring their child’s legal birth certificate, immunization records and Social Security number. No appointment is necessary, and it is not necessary for children to attend.

Weatherbee School

HAMPDEN – The D.A.R.E. Family Affair spaghetti supper will be held 5-7 p.m. Jan. 31 at Weatherbee School in Hampden. Tickets may be purchased at Schacht’s True Value Hardware or at the door the evening of the event.

The cost for a family is $15, adults $5, children $2.50. Donations may be mailed to: Hampden D.A.R.E. Parent Committee, P.O. Box 698, Hampden 04444.

Drug awareness seminar

BREWER ? ?Don?t Let Their Dreams Go Up in Smoke,? a drug awareness seminar, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the student services center at Brewer High School. Topics include drug identification, paraphernalia and ways to deal with children when drug involvement is discovered.

The seminar is offered in response to a survey that reflected community and parent interest in the subject.
