A dose of democracy

Let’s have a dose of real democracy here. I propose a national citizens referendum on whether Americans want to send our young people to be killed or poisoned, just so American oilmen can get richer.

I believe in the American people’s good, common sense, and I’m certain, given the facts and with open discussion and debate, people would vote against war. If they voted for it, well, we’d have to live with that, but it wouldn’t be any worse than what Bush, et al. plan to do.

We cannot sit by while George Bush, Dick Cheney and other oilmen, who care for naught but money, try to rule the world with our young people’s lives, and with our money that should be spent on health care, education and cleaning up our air and water.

We live here; we have some responsibility to the world to try and stop those who purport to represent us from entangling us all in a horrible world war, which would have a medieval religious theme, as well.

We need to have national citizens referendums on all major decisions that involve our lives. What we have now clearly isn’t working. The president and his minions are strangling our Bill of Rights with seeming impunity, and preparing for war without the consent of the American people.
