White, Ponies remain undefeated

ELLSWORTH – Danny White scored 21 points, including 11 in the second half, as undefeated Foxcroft Academy pulled away in the second half for its 12th schoolboy basketball win, 65-41 over Ellsworth Wednesday night.

Foxcroft outscored Ellsworth 35-16 in the second half to break the game open.

Brian Gilbert scored 11 points and Mike Carey had 10 for the Ponies while Brian Hall scored all eight of his points in the second half.

Anthony Jones’ 15 points paced Ellsworth. Seth Mayo and Joey Dewitt had 11 apiece.

At Woodland, Whitney Stevens had 13 of his 32 points in the third period and Jared Gray contributed 10 of his 26 as the Washington Academy Raiders of East Machias built a nine-point lead and held off a Woodland rally.

James Ramsdell and Ryan Harmon combined for 23 Washington Academy points to complement Stevens and Gray.

Chad Pike’s 29 points led Woodland. Jesse Nicholson added 16, Weston Kochendoerfer had 14 and Billy Smith and Andrew Scott scored 13 apiece.

At the T.J. Ryan Center in Brewer, Jeremiah Richter and Matt Grimes scored a pair of goals apiece; Robbie Hayes had a goal and four assists and Jamison Cocklin had a goal and three assists as the Witches improved to 10-0.

Tony Lorenz, Wally Tardiff and Will Prescott had the other Brewer goals, Josh Kochis had two assist and Spencer Dunbar made eight saves.

Jacob Robitaille and Nolan Gagne scored for 2-6-1 Skowhegan and Tom Hopkins made 39 saves.
