At Alfond Arena Sunday afternoon, junior Chanda Gunn posted her second shutout of the season by stopping 26 shots and leading scorer Brooke White tallied both goals as Northeastern picked up an important Hockey East win.

It was the sixth time the Black Bears have been shut out this season.

White converted a Lindsay Snider rebound with 6:38 left in the first period and added an empty-netter with 41 seconds left.

Northeastern snapped a four-game losing streak and improved to 6-11-2 overall, 2-5-1 in Hockey East.

Maine, which received 16 saves from Lara Smart, fell to 6-8-4 and 1-5-2, respectively.

MMA gains sweep

At Boston, Julia Knights totaled 36 points in two games to carry Maine Maritime Academy to a 57-23 victory over Lesley on Saturday and a 67-32 win over Wheelock on Sunday.

Knights scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds on Saturday while Erinne Magee chipped in with 18 points.

Knights poured in 24 points on Sunday and grabbed another 12 rebounds while Stacy Jones and Katie Clapham each added eight points.
