MILO – Stearns rallied from an eight-point deficit at the end of the first half, tied it after the third quarter and held off a six-point Penquis surge in the final two minutes Monday to earn a 48-47 schoolboy basketball victory.
The Minutemen handed the Patriots their first loss and avenged a loss in their first meeting at Millinocket.
Kevin McLaughlin scored 17 points, all coming in the second half, to spark the comeback for the Minutemen. Derek DiFrederico chipped in with 16 points.
