McGary propels Hodgdon past So. Aroostook

HODGDON – Shanna McGary scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds Tuesday, leading Hodgdon to a 33-25 schoolgirl basketball victory over Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.

Jamie Nightingale netted nine points for Hodgdon and Erin Foster pulled down 13 rebounds.

Audrey Charette scored 10 points for the Warriors.

At Corinth, Joe Allen scored six points in overtime and Tristan Strout sank four free throws as Central stunned Stearns, avenging a 77-47 setback suffered on Jan. 2.

Central snapped an eight-game losing streak.

Stearns was coming off a 48-47 win over previously undefeated Penquis of Milo on Monday.

Adam Allen had 16 points for Central, Joey Kane netted 14, Joe Allen finished with 12 and Colby Brown scored 10.

Kane and Brown combined for nine fourth-quarter points to rally Central from a three-point third-quarter deficit.

Derek DiFrederico’s 19 points and Kevin McLaughlin’s 14 led Stearns.
