Bangor YMCA plans session registration

BANGOR – The Bangor YMCA has scheduled registration for the new session Jan. 27-Feb. 2. Programs for children through seniors will begin the week of Feb. 3.

Youth programs include indoor soccer, archery, swimming lessons, kayaking, table tennis, dance, tae kwon do and cheerleading. Openings are also available in Bangor YMCA Preschool and Afterschool Programs.

It’s registration time for adult programs, too. Archery, table tennis, adult basketball league and more than 30 weekly fitness classes are offered, including tai chi, Pilates, fitness yoga, cardio step, tae kwon do and Shaolin Kempo.

Program information is described in the Bangor YMCA Program Guide, available at the 127 Hammond St. facility and the Bangor YMCA Sports and Fitness Center at 67 Taft Street. The Bangor YMCA Welcome Center is ready to register participants; or, call 941-2815 for more information.

The Bangor YMCA infant and toddler swim program has a new, expanded schedule. The 30-minute weekly classes are for children ages 6 to 36 months and their parents.

The program is designed to make parent and child comfortable in the water. Parents will learn to teach children how to be safe in the water while having fun. Children will learn songs and games that use basic movements in the water, such as kicking, arm strokes and breath control. Activities are based on the developmental abilities of the child.

The expanded program schedule includes a new, combined class for infants and toddlers 6:30-7 p.m. Thursdays.

Infant classes are offered 10:30-11 a.m. Mondays, and 9:30-10 a.m. Saturdays.

The toddler program is offered 10:30-11 a.m. Fridays and 10-10:30 a.m. Saturdays.

Registration will be held Jan. 27-Feb. 2 for the 10-week session which begins Feb. 3. The program, held in the Coombs Pool at the Bangor YMCA, 127 Hammond St., is free to YMCA members. The cost is $30 for nonmembers. For information, call 941-2815.
