THOMASTON – A Cushing man was arrested Thursday night for allegedly using a Rockport woman’s credit card information to obtain $575 in a cash transaction through Western Union, according to Thomaston police Officer Tim Hoppe.
Evan Moran, 27, of Cushing was charged with theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, Hoppe said. The Rockport victim works at the University Center in Thomaston, and reported the theft of her wallet on Tuesday. Police do not believe Moran stole the purse, however.
It is thought that Moran somehow obtained the credit card number and made the cash transfer Thursday, Hoppe said.
Because of Moran’s criminal history, the pending theft charge is a felony, Hoppe said.
Moran’s bail is set at $5,000 cash, but he is being kept in jail on a probation violation, Hoppe said.
