CUSHING – Some municipal positions are open to competition for the March election, including a three-year selectman’s seat.
Nomination papers must be returned to the town clerk by Friday, Selectman Richard Gardner said.
The available three-year selectman’s seat is held by David Glidden.
The town is seeking candidates for two assessor’s seats that have been vacant for a while due to Chris Schmidt moving out-of-town and Bill Baranyay leaving the position. There is one three-year seat and one two-year seat.
Candidates are sought for an SAD 50 director’s post, now held by John Frye, Gardner said, and a five-year budget committee seat held by David Brown is open to competition.
The one-year positions of town clerk, treasurer and tax collector, currently held by Norma Gardner, Joanne Young and Irene Vinal, respectively, are all open to candidates.
Elections take place 2-8 p.m. Monday, March 17, at the municipal building. Town meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the Cushing Community School.
