Pike jumper lifts Dragons past Devils

WOODLAND – Chad Pike took a pass from Weston Kochendoerfer and nailed a 15-foot jumper as time expired Friday night, lifting Woodland to a 48-47 schoolboy basketball victory over Calais.

Pike had hit two free throws with 19 seconds to play to put Woodland up by one. The Blue Devils’ Russ McLean then answered by hitting a jumper with five seconds remaining.

Kochendoerfer took the inbounds pass at the top of the key and found Pike in the far corner. Pike finished with 18 points and Kochendoerfer had 14 points to go with nine rebounds. Jesse Nicholson tallied seven points, seven assists and four steals.

Josh Berube led the way for Calais with 21 points.
