CASTINE – Freshman Julia Knights fired in a running 3-pointer as time expired in overtime Wednesday night, lifting Maine Maritime Academy to a 64-63 women’s basketball victory over Saint Joseph’s College.
Knights finished with 21 points and a game-high 16 rebounds for Maine Maritime Academy. Meghan Marshall contributed 12 points and 15 rebounds and Erinne Magee scored 14 points.
The Mariners outrebounded the Monks 55-36.
Abbie Rice paced Saint Joseph’s of Standish with a game-high 26 points. Megan Tetrault and Tara Gagnon provided 11 and 10 points, respectively.

At Newman Gym in Bangor, Randy Fletcher scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Husson College men to a 91-62 win over Thomas College Wednesday night at Newman Gymnasium.
The win was Husson’s ninth straight and seventh in Sunrise Conference play.
Buddy Leavitt and Dwayne Ailey had 12 points apiece for Husson, and Ryan Rivera and Andrius Zeikus notched 10 points each.
Jimmy Cardaci sparked the Terriers of Waterville with 17 points and nine rebounds, and Adam Rich added 12 points.
