Records: Maine 18-4 (11-0 America East); Stony Brook 6-15 (5-6)

Series, last meeting: Tied 2-2; Maine 66-41 on 1/25/03

Key players: Maine – 6-1 F Heather Ernest (19.4 ppg, 9.8 rpg, .544 FG pct., .813 FT pct.), 5-9 G Melissa Heon (11.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.2 apg, 2.1 spg, .828 FT pct.), 6-1 G/F Julie Veilleux (8.3 ppg, 5.4 rpg), 5-7 G Kim Corbitt (5.4 ppg, 4.3 apg), 6-3 C Abby Schrader (7.2 ppg, 4.9 rpg), 5-11 F Monica Peterson (6.3 ppg, 6.2 rpg), 5-7 G Missy Traversi (6.6 ppg, 2.5 apg); Stony Brook: Sherry Jordan (16.2 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 3.2 spg), Stephanie Bartlett (9.0 ppg, 42 3-pointers), Danyelle Ingram (8.8 ppg, 2.6 apg), Danielle DeGiorgio (8.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg), Bojana Bogetic (8.6 ppg, 5.2 rpg)

Outlook: The Bears look to extend their winning streak to 15 games against the Seawolves of former UMaine coach Trish Roberts. UMaine leads the league in scoring defense (48.8 ppg) and FG percentage defense (.333), while Stony Brook is last in scoring defense (69.8 ppg). The Bears are coming off an inspired effort in Wednesday’s win at Northeastern, while the Seawolves beat Hartford. UMaine needs to limit Jordan’s touches, prevent penetration by DeGiorgio, and keep a hand in Bartlett’s face. The Bears, who should control the rebounding, held the Seawolves to 27 percent shooting on Long Island. UMaine is outscoring AE opponents by 17.1 ppg and is outrebounding them by 9.0 per contest.

Time, site: Sunday, 1 p.m.; Alfond Arena, Orono

Records: Maine 12-14 (7-7 America East), Stony Brook 12-12 (6-7)

Series, last meeting: Tied 3-3; Stony Brook 81-79 on 1/26/03

Key players: Maine – 6-4 F Rickey White (13.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg), 6-1 G Kevin Reed (12.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg), 6-7 F Clayton Brown (11.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg), 7-0 C Justin Rowe (10.8 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 4.2 bpg), 6-2 G Eric Dobson (9.5 ppg, 4.8 apg, 3.8 rpg), 6-2 G Ludmil Hadjisotirov (6.8 ppg, 2.2 apg), 6-2 G Derrick Jackson (4.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg); Stony Brook – 6-3 G D.J. Outlook: With two conference games left and Maine in a tie for fourth with Northeastern, the Black Bears need to finish strong and end a two-game losing skid. To do that, the Bears must find a way to contain Munir, who almost single-handedly beat Maine in the last meeting with 25 points and seven rebounds. The Seawolves are only a half game behind Maine in the standings. Sunday is senior day for the Bears, who will honor the senior players on the roster in their last regular-season home game. Maine will need to control the paint with its sizeable frontcourt trio (Rowe-White-Brown) and utilize its size advantage. This game pits two of the top five AE teams in scoring. Stony Brook is fourth in defense, holding teams to 66.0 points per game while Maine is sixth at 69.9.
