Benedicta 2/21: ITS 81, Sherman, Mattawamkeag Cutoff is groomed, good to excellent conditions. Will be groomed Friday night
ITS 83: Sherman, Whetstone Falls: groomed, good conditions.
Municipal Trail 70: Benedicta, Whetstone Falls: groomed, good conditions.
Aroostook report from Caribou Rec. 2/19: For sledders looking to head to Quebec or planning a loop ride
ITS 92 is now open to St Pamphile. Sledders should note that customs is closed on Saturday and Sunday at this crossing but special arrangements can be made by phoning customs. Remember to have some form of identification with you. Lots of social events this weekend so sledders will see increased traffic. All trails have been groomed this week and remain hard packed, however warmer temperatures and increased traffic will cause the snow to break down quickly.
Linneus 2/18: With an extremely cold weekend and a small breakdown we will resume grooming operations and will be out every night this week. TS 83 from Houlton to the Four FootBridge in Haynesville groomed Monday night and will be groomed every night this week. Trail 7 (The Pipeline) also groomed Monday night. Trail 87 and 9 to Hodgdon groomed Sunday night.
Katahdin, midcoast
Millinocket area 2/21: We had the first day with temperatures nudging above freezing that we have had in two months Thursday. As you might expect trails got bumpy in the afternoon but the warm weather did little to reduce the snow pack and added a little needed moisture to the trails.
Trails remain in excellent condition and with snow predicted for this weekend and a return to real cold early next week should remain that way.
Shin Pond, Bowlin , Matagamon Area 2/18: 85A Shin Pond to Bowlin Camps groomed Monday evening, excellent condition.
Note: ITS 81 Shin Pond to Patten is rerouted visa 85A then 64 to connect to Patten. ITS 85 Shin Pond to Matagamon good condition, use caution through the wooded areas. ITS 85 Matatgamon to Lookout Mountain excellent condition. 71D is groomed, excellent condition
ITS 81 Shin Pond to Patten is closed due to the landowers logging.
Rockland, Thomaston, Warren 2/19: The trails are staying at their best here in the Bog Brigade system. Let’s go Mother Nature give us some more. We have one groomer and one drag out of commission till the weekend, but the other two are going strong, getting the job done.
Moosehead region
Rockwood 2/18: The Birches Web site reporting that the trails are currently excellent and have plenty of snow. Lake ice thickness is two feet deep or more in nearly all areas, but always check with locals first.
Route 66 from Rockwood to Jackman is maintained by the Blue Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club. It is scheduled for grooming every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Additional grooming occurs after each fresh snowfall.
North East Carry 2/17: The North East Carry Trail System is in excellent shape. The trail to Four Corners and Three Corners has been freshly groomed in an ongoing effort to keep trails up to our standards. The North East Carry Trail leading to the Seboomook Bypass has been freshly groomed also. The Meat Locker and the Dark Side of the Moon are in great shape.
Jackman Connector Trail (Pittston Farm to Jct. ST-20 ITS 86): Excellent. Use caution in the Miller’s Crossing area as there is still some ledge around the bridge that becomes exposed due to traffic. There is a detour along this trail due to logging.
Rockwood Connector Trail (Jct. ST-27 outhouse to Demo Road): Excellent. There is an active logging operation at the Demo Road. Watch for trucks and equipment.
North East Carry, Seboomook Connector Trail (Pittston Farm to about 11/2 miles past Seboomook Spur Trail): Very good. This trail now starts at the Farm and uses about 4 miles of plowed road.
Route 201 corridor
Jackman 2/21: The warm weather Thursday has thinned things down a bit so use care especially in the corners. The trails are all groomed and there are no problems or changes to report.
ITS 86 to Pittston Farm & Rockwood: very good
ITS 89 North to Canada: very good
ITS 89 South to the Forks & Parlin: Good
In town:Fair to Good
The Forks 2/20: We currently have anywhere from 24 to 46 inches of snow, depending on the exact location.
The ITS Connector Trail from Berry’s Store to ITS 87 is in good shape.
ITS 87 north to Greenville, Moosehead Lake is in very good condition, including the Power Line sections.
ITS 87 south toward Bingham is in very good shape.
The ITS Connector Trail from Berry’s Store to ITS 89 is currently in good condition.
ITS 89 southwest toward Grand Falls/Eustis is in good shape.
ITS 89 north to Coburn Mountain/Jackman has a ton of snow and super riding. The spur trail to the top of Coburn Mt. (3,700 feet) is open with spectacular views!
Central Maine
Manchester 2/21: Trails will be a little choppy this weekend, all groomer operators have taken some well deserved time out to play.
Washington 2/17: Back on the trail after a week of suspension repair. Our trails are well covered but fairly hard packed.
