Awesome auditorium
In reference to Don Perryman’s “Between White Lines, Nostalgia Aside,” Bangor needs a new auditorium. Don is dead on target. We’ll always be involved with the nostalgia of the current auditorium and those memorable moments.
My favorite, not mentioned by Don, was early January 1981 when Maine played DePaul. DePaul was ranked No. 1 in the nation with coach Ray Meyer and first-team All-American Mark Aguirre. The most deafening sound ever in the auditorium had to be that night when Maine cut DePaul’s lead to four points with less than four minutes to play.
It was awesome!

No canned hunting
I’ve always had a hard time during hunting season seeing hunters smiling in newspapers holding up the dead heads of deer as trophies, and cars driving around with dead deer tied to their trunks, uncovered for everyone driving behind them to look at. It should be mandatory for the hunters to have to cover their kill with a tarp while parading around town.
Now they want to have canned or caged-in hunting. There’s no sport in that, the defenseless deer have no hope or luck of escape from being killed.
Next, they’ll want to make it even more easy and blindfold the deer in a cage before shooting them.
Vote against this type of savage killing.
