Bangor police arrested a man for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend Tuesday night. The woman told Bangor police that Jose Harvey, 27, punched her twice in the neck.
Officers Al Woolley and Edward Mercier said they arrived at the couple’s Garland Street address just before 10:30 p.m. and the victim reported that after the alleged assault, Harvey had pulled the phone lines out of the wall, so she ran into the street, screaming for help.
Harvey ran out the back door, and when she went back inside, she found a cordless phone, according to Woolley.
Mercier noticed Harvey on Willow Street, and the officers arrested him for domestic assault. He was also charged for violation of probation.
An Eddington woman went to jail Wednesday morning for drug, alcohol and traffic violations.
Officer Steve Jordan saw a car turn into the oncoming lane on the Penobscot Bridge just before 1 a.m. Jordan said he followed the car to North Main Street in Brewer, where he paced it at 40 mph.
After Jordan pulled the car over, the driver, Sheri Wakefield, 39, stared blankly at him and moved unusually slowly to get her papers, Jordan said. Jordan chose to administer field sobriety tests.
Jordan said that Wakefield did poorly on the tests and that she admitted to feeling the effects of alcohol “a little bit.”
There were many empty beer containers in Wakefield’s car, and a third of a bottle of Milwaukee’s Best in the drink holder, Jordan said.
He arrested Wakefield and took her to Penobscot County Jail. Officials there said they found two tablets of diazepam, a schedule Y drug, in her pocket. She was also charged for driving with a suspended license.
Bangor police summoned a transient for theft and arrested him on outstanding warrants Tuesday afternoon.
Officers Eric Tourtellotte and Paul Colley arrested Richard Bender, 42, on three failure-to-appear warrants. Dispatch notified the officers about the warrants around 4:30 p.m. while they were questioning him about a theft, Tourtellotte said.
They took him to Penobscot County Jail without incident. Bender was also summoned for the theft.
