Roofing award
Roof Systems of Maine has been named a 2003 Firestone Master Contractor and is one of 104 roofing firms in the U.S. and Canada to earn the Inner Circle of Quality Award. Since 1988, Firestone Building Products Company, Carmel, Ind., has acknowledged firms for achieving Firestone’s high standards for roof installation quality and long-term roofing system performance.

Seniors program
Herald Duke Jr. and Elizabeth Duke of Duke Building and Remodeling recently became one of a select group nationwide to earn the certified aging-in-place specialist designation, recognizing their skills and knowledge specific to home modifications for aging persons. Herald has more than 15 years experience in the building and remodeling field.
Elizabeth Duke also is a nurse practitioner. She and Herald Duke are Maine’s first certified aging-in-place specialists.
The Remodelors Council of the National Association of Home Builders, in collaboration with the NAHB research center, NAHB seniors housing council and the AARP created the CAPS program teaching the technical, business management and customer service.

Elizabeth Coulter, a 1985 Hampden Academy graduate, has been promoted to assistant vice president in the loans operations department at Banknorth Group Inc. in Lewiston. A loans operations manager, she will continue to manage document control, overseeing the records, collateral and collateral release departments.
Orono
Retirement planning
Mark Erhardt of Orono, a financial consultant with the local office of A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc., has completed training for the title of chartered retirement planning counselor. He earned the title after completing an extensive training course offered through the College for Financial Planning, the country’s oldest provider of financial planning education.
Erhardt completed approximately 100 hours of study in retirement income sources, employer-sponsored retirement plans, long term care planning and income taxes. He has been with A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. since 1996. He is with the investment team of Rispoli, Erhardt and Wlodarski.
Hospital subsidiary board
Dana Devoe has been named to the board of trustees of the Strauss Corp., a subsidiary of St. Joseph Healthcare Foundation.
A retired attorney and long-time resident of Orono, Devoe is a graduate of the University of Maine and received a law degree from Notre Dame Law School. He practiced law in Bangor 1959-2001. He served in the Maine House of Representatives 1977-78 and in the Maine Senate 1979-80, serving as chairman of the Judiciary Committee. Before retirement, he served as a member and chairman of the Orono appeals board and on the Orono Town Council 1992-1998.
