SHERMAN STATION – An eighth-grade pupil at Katahdin High School could be charged with filing a false report for allegedly writing a bomb threat Friday morning in a restroom at the school. “Bomb, 10 o’clock” was written in one of the stalls in a girls restroom, according to Trooper Chad Fuller of the Maine State Police.
The school was evacuated, pupils were sent home and police were notified about 10:30 a.m.
Fuller and Trooper Darren Foster assisted school staff in searching the school. Trooper Shawn Whalen also was called in with his search dog, Barkley. Two girls, both 14, discovered the threat and reported it to school officials. Later, during questioning, one of the girls admitted to writing the threat, Fuller said. The second girl was not involved in the threat, he said.
The case has been turned over to juvenile intake authorities in Penobscot County, who will determine the nature of any charges to be filed
