Bangor man faces charge of assault Couple’s disagreement results in arrest

A Bangor man reportedly told police he kicked his ex-girlfriend Saturday afternoon because she wouldn’t let him leave her.

Bangor police Officer Paul Colley received a 911 hang-up call at quarter past noon. At the Ohio Street address, Colley said he found a woman lying face down on the floor, crying. Colley said 19-year-old Josh Decker also was in the room, crying.

The woman told him Decker threw her to the floor and kicked her in the back after she slapped him in the face.

The woman said Decker told her he wanted to break up, and when she tried to keep him from leaving he threw her on the couch and then tried to call police, so she slapped him.

Colley said Decker agreed with his ex-girlfriend’s story, and explained that all he wanted to do was get away from her.

Colley arrested Decker for domestic assault and called an ambulance for the woman.

A Brewer man assaulted a doorman last weekend after being told to leave a local club, police said.

Brewer police Cpl. Jason Moffitt, Cpl. Levi Sewall and Officer David Lord drove to the Eagles Club in response to an assault complaint received at 10:30 p.m. Friday.

They found an allegedly intoxicated Stephen Warman, 48, whom they asked to step outside and not come back in, Lord said.

Lord said it appeared the bartender had refused Warman alcohol because he had had enough.

The club’s policy is to require customers who are shut off to leave.

Lord said Warman evidently got into an argument with the club’s doorman, grabbed him by his leather vest and tried to pull him over the counter, at which point the doorman restrained Warman and called police.

As the officers were interviewing witnesses, Lord said, Warman pressed his head against the glass door of the club and then repeatedly re-entered the establishment.

When Warman came in the last time and began yelling, Lord arrested him for criminal trespass and obstruction of government administration, and summoned him for assault and for refusal to sign a criminal summons.

Lord said Warman continued to make an uproar at the jail.

A dispatcher for the Maine State Police counted almost 50 auto accidents during Sunday’s rainstorm, a handful of which required an ambulance.

The accidents mostly occurred between Pittsfield and Newburgh, and between Argyle and Lincoln, the dispatcher said, mainly due to ice on the roads. No severe injuries were reported.
