Presque Isle assault suspect still at large

PRESQUE ISLE – Police are still looking for Chad B. Walton, 21, of Presque Isle, who on March 23, allegedly broke into a house on Chapman Street and assaulted a man with a hatchet.

Walton is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing 151 pounds. He has brown hair, blue eyes and possibly a goatee.

He has been charged with aggravated assault and burglary in connection with the incident.Walton allegedly broke into the home at about 4 a.m. and fought with a 20-year-old man, who was sleeping in a back bedroom.

During the fight, Walton allegedly used a hatchet to strike the man in the back of the neck, according to Presque Isle police.

The victim was treated at a local hospital for his injury.

Walton fled after a 25-year-old man who lives at the house awoke and fired a rifle when Walton came at him and the victim with the hatchet.
